Update

Hello everyone,

It has been a long time since I have updated, but since I brought my two students into the computer lab, I have some free time now to update. I got a job at Ivy Collegiate Academy in Taichung, which is in the middle of the country. It is a boarding school for grades 7-12. I live on the second floor with the upper school boys. I have two bedrooms, 3 toilets, 3 showers, 3 sinks, 2 twin size beds pushed together, a mini-fridge, a tv, and a dvd player all for myself. I get 3 free meals a day and access to all of the school's things. It sounds pretty good right? Not really, the school is in the middle of nowhere and I do not have a scooter. A taxi ride is 10 dollars to the nearest town with things to do, so I pretty much stay inside and play ping pong with the students. Also, rotating between 2 other teachers I have to make sure all the kids go to sleep, go to their meals, and that they clean up their rooms, etc. It is seriously a 24/7 job. As of know I teach a health and fitness class 3 days a week, a gym class 2 times a week, a grade 8 esl job 5 days a week that only has 2 students in it, and a esl 7th grade class 5 days a week with only 1 student in it. Besides that, I am coaching the jv basketball team. There is an a team and a b team, so I have two teams. The boys had two games each so a total of 4 games and we are still undefeated. The boys b team beat the other team 64 to 17, they were like throwing up three's with their eyes closed and making them, it was crazy. Anyways I am just working crazily and that is about it. The website where you can see the shool for yourself is http://www.ica.ivyjhs.tcc.edu.tw/

check it out b/c my picture is on it,,,,yeah! laters

That's great. I'm guessing the reason the teams you coach are undefeated is 'cause they've never seen guys play by driving EVERY SINGLE TIME and NEVER PASSING THE BALL.

By the way, I like how all the other teachers' pics show them teaching and yours looks like a mugshot.

Okay, I mean a mugshot is an aggressive way of putting the picture. I would say it is more like a passport photo of that dude leaving xingzhiang for the first time and going to the big "city" of Taichung :) so don't worry Rob...it could be worse. What I love is that every teacher there is dual purpose, like
English/Math
Physics/Biology
Social Science/French
then we have Rob
P.E./English
that's great! Anyways, I am so proud of you for making the 'website' hope you are enjoying your job...i am going to give you the name and email of my friend in Taichung...his name is Meikan..and he may be the ONLY AZN I know that might be close to drinking you under the table....I love you.

It sounds crazy, I am just so happy to hear about what you have been up to. It's awesome that you are teaching P.E. since that was your original plan and English which you wanted to do. I love that you are teaching the kids your mad skills in Basketball! Congrats on the numerous wins! I have to agree with Doris about the picture, it does look like an ID photo. Where was that taken? I am also teaching seventh grade currently, its self contained...so I have had to learn how to be proficient in all of the subject areas, not really. It is an awful job, I was literally thrown in. I am their fourth teacher this year, just to give you a quick summary. I am differentiating my ass off. I can go on and on, but I am just so glad to know what you have been up to. Take those kids to the lab more, so you can update. :)
